Honda Insight Hybrid Sedan Revealed At New York
Previously, Honda had revealed the early version of the Insight Hybrid Sedan at Detroit Autoshow 2018. And now it’s showing us the completed one in New York.
This model is a hybrid sedan, taking its place between the Civic and Accord model from the point of both price and size.
The drivetrain of new Insight Hybrid comes up with Atkinson cycle 1.5L backed up with an electric motor which delivers together 151HP and 197 pound-feet torque.
The vehicle has a Li-on battery pack placed under the rear seat which is insufficient to produce a range similar to other Plug-in hybrids.
The driver has 3 different strength options to choose for regenerative braking to charge the batteries on the move which is made by the paddles placed on the steering wheel.
The Insight has been built on the same chassis as the Civic yet the wheelbase has been lengthened which helps to create an extra 1.5 inches room in the rear section.
As a common production policy of Japanese car makers, the Insight’s safety systems are coming in a full package including active and passive safety, which is called as Honda Sensing. The package includes but not limited to;
- Adaptive cruise control,
- Lane departure warning,
- Lane keep assisting,
- Forward collision warning,
- Automatic emergency braking,
- LaneWatch (passenger side-mirror camera to prevent blind spot)
The new insight will be available in retail stores in 3 different trims, which are;
-the base model LX,
–EX, (keyless entry, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and satellite radio, without navigation.
and with the utmost trim, Touring, you will get additionally
- bigger wheels,
- rain-sensing wipers,
- heated leather seats,
- navigation and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
The price of the vehicle hasn’t been revealed yet, possibly sometime around close to release date.
